Hey fellas.
Ive noticed on quite a few of people's instrument clusters (think hyena just to name one) have painted the black mask thing that is inside the instument cluster to like silver or whatever Im just checkin is there any sort of paint that i should be using to do this, such as water based, or like enamel?. Dont wanna get the wrong type of paint and see the plastic getting eaten lol Cheers, Darren |

Plenty of posts on this but a quick synopsis - make sure it has been cleaned thoroughly then give it a couple of thin coats of "plastic trim primer". After that you can paint it with most anything.

ive done it,
clean very well (no armorall) and the plastic primer. i used a matte black plastic spray. dont cut corners on it, many painted dash's i look at most people dont spray the vents, and thngs like the air con, just looks unfinnished. take you time and do it right. good luck, Rushed |

i think hes talking about the instrument cluster surround (guages bit), but your quite correct in saying that cleaning is the key to a good job.

It matters not - if you're painting plastic, use a plastic primer..

a good primer to use is tamiya primer (model car primer ) - it acks as a filler aswell if you plan on painting the outer facia

as it is protected against anything touching it by the plastic cover most paints will be fine for the job
