going to paint my dash etc, was wondering if the vht dye is the best stuff to use compared to just the normal vinyl paint? i know there's a few people on here that have done it, so what did you use?

i used vht vinal dye, was been fine, once its dried it tough as,
for example, i even dyed the shifter knob and it the colour hasnt worn at all, note: on areas you would touch often sray a coupla exra coats. |

so how many cans would do dash, surrounds and centre consol? how many coats on each? also going to do my door trims once there fibreglassed up.

I managed to do it with one can. I really recommend that VHT Vinyl Dye stuff, its the best. Also dont do it inside the car, go the extra mile and disassemble it, makes the job MUCH easier. I did about 4 coats i think, and it came up a gem. Just before you start, clean the surface really really well, i think i used a little bit of metho on a rag and cleaned it that way. Inbetween the coats though, let it sit for bout 5 mins before doing it again.
Door trims pretty much the same thing, but youd need another can for that stuff i reckon.... |

i went though 4 whole cans on mine.
i took all the parts of the dash out and painted them, in aircon vents, THE LOT. i also sprayed the top of all 4 of my door trims (kept the stock two tone effect) i did the dash the one main bit, while it was in the car, i did this last so idd know how the can sprayed. came out with no runs or thick spots. for a better stronger finish, NEEDED for plastic parts, is a plastic primer, i only needed one can of that. the biggest tip i found was, many VERY light coats works best with this stuff, as it runs easily. |

I used a few cans of VHT on mine too. Best stuff to use.
