Finally picked up a PAB dash for the purposes of using the airbag void for misc electronics/PC stuff.
I know that later models had a blanking cover/plate for when a PAB wasn't included, but since the EL basically swapped out the entire dash when the PAB option wasn't included did they ever make the blanking covers for the E series?

The cover is attached to the air bag assembley by straps to stop it flying off when the air bag is deployed. When its in place its only held in via clips/ studs so you could try find a wrecker that has a car with air bags deployed and just cut the straps and use the cover

I've got a complete airbag sitting here. Was hoping to leave it intact for if/when I sell the car and get a blanking plate instead.

If not I noticed a huge bolt going through the side. Is this what holds the airbag/deployment mech in? How hard would it be to gut a PAB so I can use its housing for storage?
