I did. They seemed to be moving freely when I put it back together though so I don't know whats going on. I probably broke it putting the needle back on.

Cars going into auto elec in a few weeks to get my Innovate LC1 afr gauge installed so i'll get them to look at it. I can't be stuffed fixing it. I've had enough stuffing around with it now. Electrics aren't my my thing.

the needle will be rubbing on the backing plate. it might be on too far or on an angle so the point is touching it

I'll check that then, cheers.

What are you guys using to replace the tiny globes in the power antenna and de-mist buttons. Is there a specific bulb and holder you can buy. You can't remove the globe in mine.

EDIT: Figured it out !

Hey I've read through lots of diff posts here and cant seem to find any info on how to change the Auto Shifter panel to Blue LED's. probablly easy im guessing but I am thinking about doing the whole dash etc but dont want to be left with an orange glowing shifter display. Any advice ?

I just took the shifter surround apart, ripped off the old colour filter thing and printed some blue paper, glued that in, removed the little red square gear indicator and replaced with blue also.. didnt even need to change to a blue led still using the stock globe.... Looks pretty good, im going to put another layer of blue on tomorrow because its a little to light blue atm, needs to be darker...

Well now I have started I'm gonna have to do the whole dash... fun times ahead....

After looking through the 4 million posts on here about this mod I've decided to do it ! ordered my LED's from Hong Kong now the wait for them to arrive.... I also just finished making my new custom dials so hopefully it all looks good. I'll post pics in a month when the LED's arrive :-)

I have used this site as a source of info for months but never really posted much, this site is addictive and I can see it 's going to cost me a lot of cash browsing these forums..

Hey guys, completed my dash a while back but got stuck on the climate control on my EF. I wasnt able to get the display blue, but I have narrowed it down to having to un-solder the display to be able to remove the orange film, is this correct? And it seems pretty difficult. Is there any other way ?

Cheers

Yep, you have to de-solder the LCD display, remove the orange filter lense piece and then fit your own filter. (I just used a white sheet of paper as my filter and cut out the same shape as the piece that you pull out, worked fine with blue LED's)

Then you've got the tedious task of re-soldering the LCD display back on and you're done. I found using de-soldering braid worked quite well for this job.

What globes are you supposed to use in the aeriel and de-mist switches, they are tiny little globes and I have no idea what LED's are supposed to replace them due to the tiny size.

Ok so de soldered and re soldered the board successfully and man that was painful. Now the CC unit works fine, except I cannot seem to see the display. I can see it when I put it in some light, but when the unit is put together with the Blue LED behind it, nothing displays!

Anyone got any trouble shooting pointers?

Cheers

Have a look on Ebay there is a seller based in Queensland that has those lights in 4 Different LED colours. By memory they sell them as set of 4 for about $9.95

Cheers, i'll have a look. Do you know what the globes are called? Once I know what type of globe they are then that makes it easy.
