Did they come with bulb holders ? Are they loose in the back of the cluster? I'd say u need new ones as they are not making a good contact

im using the factory holders. using the exact same ones again with globes. globes have no issues :( might soldier them in. they are only about $2 for a pack of 10. they all work still.

Has anyone found a way to keep the orange warning segments (tacho Redline, low fuel level, high temp etc) staying orange when lit up? Instead of the god awful brown color they go with the blue back lighting.

I recently did my dash, replaced all the bulbs with blue leds, this includes dash, heat, fan, vent, rear demister controls, and transmission lights, the only problem is with my LCD display on my dash, i have an AU so its only a small lcd screen that shows cruise, economy, km, distance to empty etc etc.... i put blue LEDs behind this screen and because leds have a small viewing angle it looks s**t, u can see 2 spots of light on the screen where the light shines through but everything else is dark, i have tried the following:

Sanded the tops of LEDs flat, increasing viewing angle. This helped a little
Put a frosted perspex filter behind the LCD to try and blur the light
Put an extra 2 LEDs behind the screen
And a few other small things

I dont seem to be able to find a filter that blurs light to make it even over the entire screen... I am out of ideas and getting frustrated because you can barely read it in the day time, i need some way of making the blue light even over the entire screen, anyone got any ideas because im getting really depressed and might cry soon.... :P

It would be all good if there was a ultra bright blue led out there that had a 180 degree viewing angle

ok mate well your in luck because i have succesfully done it. your talking about the climate control right?
see previous post with pics
you firstly need to pull it apart to get to orange filters and clean them till white. i sed nail polish and it worked well. then you need to get t5 flat blue leds. ill show you which ones but they will take awhile to arrive from overseas. they are what i have in my dash and look mad and can be sen at night and enough during the day. i will have some comming very soon as i sell them on ebay. you wont be dissapointed in the, cos they are brighter and spreaad 180 cos theyre a flat smd led.

Well. Finally i have completed my new colour scheme in the EL.
Excuse the poor picture quality as its hard to keep the camera steady on long shutter mode.
Unfortunately the only thing which didnt get done was the air control unit. It seemed just too big and difficult of a task to tackle. But anyway, it turned out great and i am very pleased with the results.

How did you get your needles to stay orange, I think that looks great!!! Have been tossing up whether I should give it a crack or not... But If I can get it too look like that I'll have a go for sure!

Not LED, but I put new wedge globes in and found it too bright when set on high and too dull on low. The backlighting came up heaps better but the front (refracted) light lit up the whole car. So I removed the perspex, that sends the light to the front, and taped up most of each 4 sections. I reckon it looks sweet. Illuminated needles would be nice though, anyone put EF needles in an EB cluster?

No LED's and it's a really bad pic, but still looks great though.
