Hi Guys,

Please accept my apologies if this has been explained in a previous thread.

A while ago there was a doc about upgrading the interior light in and EF/EL.. It doesnt seem to be there anymore..

Can anyone help?

Thanks a lot

well at a guess I would say upgrade to the fairmong/fairlane interior light with the map reading lights etc.

You'll need the light (obviously) the mounting bracket and also need to run an extra wire up to it for a permanent 12v source.

Shouldn't be too hard to do.

Yeah thst the one, upgrade from stocky dodgy one to one with map lights.

The doc said that we could use the same wires as the orignal. I thought I had it saved/printed somewhere.

if you want to have the 'fade-out' feature as well, i'm pretty sure you need to upgrade your BEM to a mid-series one - i.e from a futura/fairmont/ghia etc.

also do the footwell lamps whilst you're at it - just did mine on the weekend, and VERY happy with it!

No, you need to run a 12v perm wire... the gli is only active when the doors are open or the interior light is switched on. If you want a map light on you'll need to run 12v. The fairmont harness has three wires going up there.

How hard was it to do Bob, and what did you do to the door trims? Insert Fairmonts or cut them open? Got pics at all?

the footwells aren't in the door trims mate - thats the courtsey lamps - which is next on the list! :P there are already spaces for where the bulbs are to go - one in each of the front footwells, and one in the back of the centre console, facing the back. just needed to run some wires so that when the interior lamp goes on, the footwells come on! i've got the courtsey lamps here too, just need to cut them into my current trims
