Yeah i have a small amp too, only puts out about 180-200wrms. I Need something that has atleast 300wrms if not more as my sub is very under powered. The sub being 300wrms/1000watt itself, i need an amp that will match that atleast...
Also im making a new boot lining too, something that both looks better but will also provide more stability for the sub box. LOL its going be interesting Heres a better pic

Just went out to take a photo of my setup, and the camera ran out of battery!! But it is a 12inch in a box with a flat front, but it is sitting on an MDF shelf casue the sub rocked when it was above the diff on its own. My freind gravity mixed with the box almost touching the bottom of the parcel shelf stops it from moving
In response to the not wanting to lose boot space comments, i was the same, so i drilled two 9mm (9.5?) holes into the plastic covering the top of the suspension strut. Hand screwed in 2 d***head rca female ends, (red and black funnily enough) and put male ends on the sub end of the speaker lead. (my amp is under the dirvers seat so i ran the speaker lead from the amp under the sill and straight up into the suspension bit) So to take the sub out takes 5 seconds, just tilt the seat forwards and unplug it from the wall, throw the cable forwards, and pull the sub out. Easy!! Last edited by nicco on Sun Jul 03, 2005 9:22 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

Well this is my box that I made a few months ago, it sounds great and keeps most of the space in the boot usable, which is what I need.

depends what you want you can easily mount a free air sub whatever size you like behind the back seats but then you cant get to the boot through the seats, there is a 10inch hole in your parcel shelf for the premium sound sub get a good quality 10"and put it in thereor else you gotta just bolt a box to your floor

Hmm, liking that setup. Uses minimal space of the boot, is it removable at all? Like if you wanted to shove something (long piece of timber etc.) through the 60/40 split? And so amps are idealy placed on the back of the rear seats too peeps?

Look at what i wrote on the last page, as i said, is the best way that uses no boot space, and is quickly removable... No one i know has been able to top it for ease... |

And so my Fairmont would have this premium sub whole bit? Are 10 inch subs common? Haven't seen that many online. Woiuld a 10 inch do the job? I'm really liking the sound of that idea, really out of the way then, though then peering eyes can see the sub I guess and think "hello! yoink!". :/

My boot setup is neat but you loose the luxury of folding the back seats down and putting things thru the boot. this setup required me to make custom panels, but i still hav easy access to the spare tyre and theres a compartment for the wheel brace, jack, jumper leads etc.

I didn't want a big box in the boot and also to keep the split-fold, as you can see I went with the sub in the parcel shelf and bolted the amps to the seats.
