hi everybody

i got a power antenna installed in my EF and its working fine no problems there. the guy wired it into the ignition so i second i put ACC on or turn the key the aerial goes zooming up

i dont listen to the radio that much and therefore when i am not i dont want the aerial to come up. i was thinking of putting a swtich in so i can press when i want it to come up.

Any ideas where i should tap the wires from or where to get the offical EF switch.

thanks for your input

just put a switch between the power wire on the aerial so you can turn it off/on manually.

well if you don't want to take the panel off take it to an auto sparky and pay for him to do it.

if you have a newer stereo, it probably has a trigger wire - which is used to activate a power aerial when you use the radio, thus while playing CD's the aerial is down, when you put on the radio...the aerial goes up...

that could be an option to consider as well.

The "guy" wired it incorrectly then - it should go up when triggered from the radio/headunit turning on..
If your happy having it the way it is then have him fit a switch for you.

I fitte dan electric antenna to my car the other week. I wired one wire to the antenna remote wire from the back of the head unit and the other to an accessories power wire (yellow wire) on the plug to the HU. It goes up when i turn the radio on and goes down when i select a CD or turn the car off.

If your head unit doesn't have a radio trigger wire. Then putting in a switch is the way to go. You will find the power wire behind the ECU inside the left hand kick panel. It runs through the inner guard to the antenna.

My old Pioneer didn't either, only when the head unit was turned off.
That's why I fitted a switch.
