None of the EF/EFII/EL/ELII switches for the windows light up, upsettingly.
There is no globe in there, its normal mate sorry to say lol. You will get used to it soon; the only time i remeber they dont light up is when i got a mate in my car n they go wheres the button or which button is it lol.

you could maybe do what neo_nick has done with the chrome door handles, and fit LED's behind them?

Have u seen the switches? There isnt any room for an led from what ive seen - plus they arent clean plastic as is - itd be very time consuming!

only AU and some BA window switches light up.. e.g. fairmont etc.. not forte and xt. We've got an XR6T and the window switches didn't light up (all 4), i got blue LED's soldered into them and now they do! haha

Hey all,
I have added blue/yellow led lighting to my EF power window buttons! The switch assemblies come apart easily, i drilled a small hole through the centre of each switch and glued a 3mm led into each. soldered on some thin flexible wiring, put the switch assembly back together and hooked up the leds to the rest of my blue led interior highlighting via a regulated voltage circuit and dimmer control. Looks awesome at night!

Another option would be to run some fibre optic cable into a hole in the switch. Easy enough to do I should think. But youve got power windows! quit complaining. At least ill never lose my window winder

Surely getting some sort of light behind the switch would see some light 'escaping' around the edge of the switch and provide a nice backlit outline?

yeah that was my thoughts too martin - same sort of idea. you could do that with a few things inside the car i'm sure - lol maybe a/c vents & the like! you're only limited by your imagination!

Sorry guys,
i tried back lighting the whole switch panel but could not achieve a satisfactory even effect, so holes in the buttons is best option. Blue+/Red leds in the airvents do look good....I have mounted both colours in the front l+R vents and in the rear centre console vent also so far......blue when aircon is on for those hot nights and red when the heater is on, helps give you the warm feeling. (at moment i switch between colours manually, but am looking into having them auto switch via the cli/cont. Have also run Blue Electroluminescent wire along the headlining plastic trims, with a dimmer module. this looks awsome at night as it glows from behind the plastic trims accross the edges of the roof lining!! will try and post pics if my friend ever gives my camera back!~!! Have fun

Wow, so youve lit up the window switches!?
Where does the light come from? Around the switch or thru it? Id rather have the U and D light up, but doubt its easily possible. I dont mind the idea of lighting around the switches from beneath - id have to see it 1st. Top effort!

At the moment my blue lighting just comes through a small hole in the middle of the buttons via a 3mm led, which looks good at night.
I recently aqquired a spare switch console and am slowly but surely attempting to "drill-out" the lettering on each switch with a .8mm drill i got back in my jaycar employee days. Once completed i will mount 4 leds under the switch panel and hopefully it'll work out how i envisaged it... I've put blue led's in each footwell reflecting of the cherckerplate mats, 1 in the centre armrest, glovebox, rear a/c vents, front a/c l&r vents, the pwr wind buttons, 3 in the boot highliting the 2 blue coned subs and blue jaycar amps all running off a "voltage regulating adaptor kit" from jaycar also...this allows them all to be turned off/on at will and gives the ability to dim them! Have just added auto window closers today (closes all windows when alarm is armed) and picked up a spare ign barrel so i can get the remote engine start alarm i installed last weekend to work.

Where did you get the auto window winders and what did they set you back?
Ive wanted to do this for ages! Also which alarm did you use for remote start, cost?
