I was pulling into my driveway today, and was doing up both passenger and drivers side power mirrors at the same time, when i heard the whole glass drop on the passenger side.

When pressing the button i can still hear the winders working, but the actual glass is not moving?

I had a look after i removed the door trims and it looks like the metal wire has snapped..

does anyone know what happend here and how or who can fix it?

Clips that hold the cable in the regulator have broken.

Time for a new window regulator.

You may be able to fix it, but normally once you run the motor after the clip breaks, it screws the cable mechanism inside the motor.

Confirmed.

This happened to my Rear driver's side door a little while ago. New Regulator needed.

I don't like your chances of getting one at Pick and Pay more... There aren't many power window equipped wrecks there.

I got mine from FTG (a site sponsor) for a good price. New part, (though not genuine... the genuine ones are too expensive! (3 times as much!)

They posted it up, and Crescent in Liverpool installed it for me. Sorted.

This happend to me last week I managed to get the window back up as one cable was still connected but awaiting to pick up the part.

so u somehow lifted the glass and it stayed up and works now? or was that just a temp. fix?

If not, how did u go about fixing it?

EDIT: i had a look again during the day, and it turns out the metal wire that moves the windows has actually snapped..

Bill,
I wish I had seen this before now, I'd have got you to bring it up for me and paid you at the Lakes Beach.
Do you still have the LHR? If so I'll buy it off you.
Paul
