Will the premium sound plugs be the same as my mid series unit? ie will it be a simple matter of plugging the plugs straight in?

i think they are

as the premo sound was the amp and sub
and all that is prewired into the loom

Pretty sure all the premium sound connectors are not present in the base looms. There are no connectors for the stacker, amp or the 8" subwoofer present in the gli loom.

You would be much better off fitting an after market headunit and some nice speakers than trying to retrofit the premium sound.

You would need extra wiring as the lower spec definatly are missing stacker, amp, rear speakers. Cheers
