Hi All,
I have a problem with my EB Fairmont Ghia climate control air con. It appears the fan speed hunts, ie from low to hi on a cycle. It does it whether in auto mode or manual fan speed selection. Any idea on possible cause of fault. Thanks. |

Run diagnotic and see if any errors are logged.
Bottom right button (inside the panel door) and off to start diagnotics and then note any codes that are logged, ie E1, E2.......etc, then get back to us!

Not sure on how to run diagnostics.
Please adivse details. Ford quoted $290 for a fan speed controller, I don't want to spend the money if its not the problem. Thanks. |

Release both buttons at the same time. any eror codesheld in memory will be displayed in the LCD Display.. for next error code press AUTO button To quit press AUTO button untill no more codes are displayed. To clear codes, initate self test twice. At this point I don't think I need it as the problem has disappeared on its own.
However, I'll keep it in mind Thanks |

Doing this proceedure on an e-series will reset the blend door motor calibration. Sometimes the climate control unit looses the high and low value memory, and this is the only way to reset it. Although as Paul said, the car must be at operating temperature, otherwise the internal sensors will not pickup the hot/cold air and adjust the blend door calibration correctly. So if you do this same things when the car is cold, it will screw the calibration. |
