can the legs of LEDs be soldered into the bulb holders behind trip computers and such?

you dont NEED to solder the legs onto the bulb holders for one.

you can just have it push-in type

you still need to have the resistor soldered on i assume?

i just solsered mine into the cluster i love my led cluster i used 8 leds instead of 6 coz i didnt like the faded aread around the top of the speedo and tacho
