It's one of those ones that attach directly to the inside surface of the windscreen, and it keeps frigging falling off.
Before now I've been using a two-part epoxy to fasten it (always fun holding it still for ten minutes), which works until winter rolls around again -- when I assume the metal interface contracts more than usual, breaking the glue. (Seems it's that time of the year again.) Would I have better results with a hot glue gun maybe? Or something else? |

get it at any auto shop!

Clean window area properly with thinners / prepsol or simular, also clean metal base properly.
Unscrew to metal base and give it a roughen up on the side that sticks to the window. Glue it back onto the window and hold in place with tape,l when dry reattach mirror. |

Loctite Rear View Mirror glue is the go. And follow the instructions on the back of the package!

Since you mention that its annoying to hold it still for 10 minutes I thought I had better just check, you have removed the actual mirror and are working with just the mount right?
On the front of the base is a small grub screw, remove that, the mount will slide out. Its fairly light and you can easily use a bit of tape to hold it while the glue dries. |

If you use the correct adhesive it dries in 35 seconds and you can refit the mirror in 2 hours

Used some of the locite stuff a couple of years ago to reattach the mirror in dads car, worked a treat.

A few days after using the hot glue gun, I found the mirror on the front seat again, and was able to peel the remaining blob off by hand.
That a specialised glue for this particular job exists is proof that we live in a society gone mad, but thanks twr7cx: I'll grab some Loctite. RedRoo/Heydonms: Yep, I was holding the entire mirror up to dry. Removing the mount and using tape is something I *should've* thought of -- so thanks for the tip! While I'm at it, I might replace the unit with something more attractive. |
