has anyone reapolstured their own seats?
how did u do it and how much did it cost you???

We reupholstered the seats on my brothers old RS2000. It was fairly easy and they came up really nice. Didn't cost much more then material and staples. Just make sure you take the time to do it right.

pull the covers off the seats, unpick the stitching, lay the old covers out on the new material, cut, stich, pull covers back over seats.
in essence. lol. how well can you sew? thats the only issue i could see if i did it myself |

Ill pay $2 an hour to do that for me.. Thats top dollar in china!

From what I've seen and heard, the most difficult aspect of sewing together new upholstery is getting the stitching straight and even.
Bear in mind too that mum's old Janome probably won't do to well if you try to stitch thicker, tougher fabrics like leather or even good quality vinyl. I think the professionals use pneumatic machines. Also, you need a good depth in the machine to fit all your fabric through. It might be worth seeing what an upholsterer would charge to sew together the pieces if you buy the fabric and cut them out. I have had a motorbike seat done before, with piping and stuff on the edges, and they only charged $20, materials included.
