Sounds like a blown globe you have to pull off the dash, take the cluster out and replace the appropriate t5 globe.

Look in the technical docs for the blue globe conversion, as it'll show you how to change the globes.

Replacement globes, not sure but I believe autobarn, supercheap etc. should stock them, or hit up your local wreckers and just take a few out of the back of a cluster.

Are you sure you have the correct plug on the switch?

What do you mean by that, you mean the correct plug into the demister switch? Only one fits, all plugs on the dash excluding the boot and fuel are keyed specifically, although I have a suspicion the key lock might fit boot and fuel.

Not to mention he said the demister is still working.

Fairmont have two plugs in that area, one is the dimister and one is the arial height, they can fit either switch. I did miss the working bit though.

The switch thing is a good point - the PA and demist switch will definitely interchange, maybe the column auto economy switch plug (fitted to GLI's and futura's) may interchange as well.
If you don't hear a click with the demister, then this may be well worth looking at, for others reading this thread.

Interesting, it looked similair but I'd read.
Quote:
# 12) Unplug the switches (Antennae Height adjust, Rear Window Demister, Door Lock/Unlock, Boot Release, Fuel Flap Release) Please note: with exception to the Fuel flap release, and Boot release switches, all the plugs are keyed so as to make it impossible to connect the wrong plugs to the wrong switches.

No, the button only illuminates with the dash lights etc on. However the demist icon in the instrument cluster should operate with the demister.

The globes for the demist, aerial and rear wiper buttons aren't T5's. They are these little buggers and I'm not sure if there is an LED equivalent.
