My wife's rear view mirror fell off the windscreen yesterday (EB), any suggestions what to glue it back on with, especially something to withstand this bloody hot weather?
Cheers RD

Araldite. I've used it glue mirrors on before without any problems. The hardest part is making the the thing stay in place while it sets. Gaffer tape will hold it, but make sure the car is in the shade while the glue dries.

RD, when mine fell off a couple of years ago, I just dropped in to a Windscreen O'briens, and asked if they could glue it back on for me.
Whilst I was prepared to pay for it, they did it for nothing. BenJ

Thanks guys
Might just do a dodgy for now as she is due for a new screen real soon so it would have to be done all over again anyway. It's just she was complaining that she didn't have anywhere to hang the hands free thingo for her phone! Cheers RD

any auto spare parts shops sell a special glue designed for rear view mirrors. Usually contains a primer and the glue..about 5 bucks

Matey - if you can't wait to get to casto, drop into a motor accessories place - there is a loktite or superglue type product specifically for this.....
(the same thing happened to me ole' ED) Do not use Araldite - it loses strenght at 60 degrees, which it will do even on a cold day in the sun. cheers,

It's rated for up 100 degrees C. Anyway, if you can get it done for free..... all the better.

You'll most likely find the grubscrew needs tightening with a small allenkey.

just had a look, there doesnt appear to be a grub screw. looks like theres a mounting pad that goes on the window and then the mirror sort of clicks on via a tab system, but i could be wrong. can anyone confirm this or offer solution?

As snap0964 said, there is a grub screw with an allen head. It is very small, and could even be missing from your mirror. It is located in the flat part of the mount. There should be a small hole where it is supposed to be. BenJ

had a second look... no grub screw, no hole missing a grub screw, in fact no screw or screw holes anywhere in the whole mirror setup.

LOL, no wonder, just noticed your sig, you are driving a BA
Mate, we will always assume you are driving an E series. You need to be very clear on what model car you are driving. I have no bloody idea about a BA. BenJ

yes your right ba's dont have a grub screw, the tab is a b**ch too, most ppl break the mirror right of the screen when they try and get it of...at the dealership we replace the mirror under warranty when they rattle, but im guessing your car is no longer under warranty..
