My EL has decided to join the broken air selection flap club. I have been told by the local Ford dealer that the whole airbox has to be purchased. Does anyone know if this is correct or is it possible to purchase the flap seperately. I am putting a day aside to remove the dash to replace the offending part and while I have it apart try and get rid of a few offending rattles and squeaks!!

It seems EL's have this problem alot posted about in these forums.
It is a common problem with the EL and what about the EF? |

hey man!
i was gonna post a problem but it looks like you have beat me to it. Is your prob like mine where when fan is running high and/or going up hills the CC selects to rout air to screen by itself and CC still says air to face? But when slow fan speed, all OK???? If so, what box you have to replace? is there a "cheat sheet" in the mods for this?

Nah, mine has broken the actuator shaft (sounds painful, doesn't it!) connected to the fresh air/ inside air door. It is a dash out job but the local dealer (Mt Barker, SA) advises the whole air box has to be purchased. Other than wreckers (which may already be on the way out) does anyone know if the door can be purchased seperately

Ok another air con problem...
Yesterday hopped in the car it was about 34 degrees outside. Both font windows down and cooled down the car then threw the air con on 2. after a few minutes it seemed to die then start to goi spastic and make weird nosies like it was running normal then dying. sort of like a wheezing sound. any ideas? i think it was still too hot to run the air con either in the cabin or in the engine bay. |

you can, but if you have to pay someone for the labour of repairing it, its probably not going to be that much more expensive to purchase a complete box.
