Does anyone know what can be used to clean and remove gunk from the external surface of an Airbag?
Each time I touch the airbag / horn hub it feels sticky and is discoloured. Even another airbag from a wrecking yard feels the same. There are no "good to touch" airbags I could find at wrecking yards so far. Any advice is welcome. Cheers |

wax and grease remover or isopropyl alcohol, as in that Isocol stuff.
Its the release agents coming out of the rubber that make it feel like s**t.

Revcore, thanks mate, will that Eucalyptus cause any problems with that outside protective skin of the airbag?
Johnson stoker I can give both a go and see how it goes, I hope it wont eat into that rubber and make it worse. Cheers |

I tried Eucalyptus,
Did not work but the aroma smelt nice, woke up this morning and aroma was still lingering. Have not tried other suggestion (wax and grease remover) as yet , not sure if its safe on plastic. rubber type material. Cheers, Bondy99 |

ranga83,
Thanks for that info. Don't suppose you know the name and type of paint did you use on the airbag? Cheers, bondy99 |

ranga83,
Thanks mate, I used sugersoap first undiluted form...wow, took a lot of paint off, quickly rinsed it under fresh water, it almost stripped it bak to black material.. I used septones Wax and grease remover afterwards and sprayed it with fabric / vinyl spray, charcoal grey...it did the jpb, not sticky anymore but the paint job is a bit patchy. I might get another airbag from a wreck and redo it. Using wax and grease remover this time. Thanks for everyones contribution. Cheers, Bondy99 |

Here are the photos of Steering wheel before the makeover. This has been uploaded to show what the problem is / was.

mate, that steering wheel looks work to the point that it is disintegrating. If that is the case, the only way that it can be fixed is to wrap it or replace it.
