Well, I pulled my finger out today and decided it was time to swap my Fairmont Roof Lining into the GL.

The one in the GL had a tear over the rear passengers head, and I really missed the map and reading lights in the Fairmont

Had a quick read through the doco and got to work.

Took around two hours to strip two cars and install one. The fairmont is starting to look like a shell now.

Very happy with results.

No tear in fabric now and the kids have their lights above the rear doors, and the map lights are much better for reading a good book while waiting for kids/wife.

Regards
BenJ

No, the loom just unplugs from one and plugs into the other.

Quite simple really.

I didn't think the GLi loom had the permanent power in the roof required for the map lights. I thought it was all switched, ie only two wires not three.... ?

You are correct in that the original loom in the GL roof had only two wires. The body loom however had all three wires, and when I plugged in the roof loom from the Monty, it all worked straight up.

You will just need to make sure you get the roof loom you need from the donor car.
