I have a 72 galaxie with A/C-(not working). It has a big old original York compressor. I want to get my air con working again, and suspect the 40 year old compressor has probably shuffled off.
Only problem is that on the two occasions that I've contacted suppliers (both otherwise helpful I may add) for p/a on compressors, as soon as I ask if they can recommend a better compressor, the email trail stops there. I do realise that I may have to do some fitting/modifying of brackets-that doesnt scare me at all, but I struggle with the notion that there isnt a better/more efficient compressor than the old one especially if as I will probably have to modern refridgerant. This was in the interior forumas as it is all about being comfortable isnt it? LOL I was quite happy to buy a new compressor and parts, but if I keep getting stuffed around, I will find a wrecked car and fit the a/c gear from that although I can be talked out of that. Thoughts anyone? |
