Hello,
Been reading up on the feasibility of replacing the standard ICC with a premium colour ICC in a BF XL MkII Ute. Some people say all you have to do is get the unit recoded by Ford or someone with the tools whilst others say you have to get the wiring loom re done to accommodate it. Installing it myself is no problem for me but I don't wont to waste 4-500 bucks. Cheers |

Just got the same story from Coral Coast Ford in Bundaberg, yet everything i've been able to find on the net says that it just requires some re-programming of your BEM and HIM Modules. Can someone please explain what is required to replace a standard (Poverty Pack) ICC with the Dual Zone Mono/Color Premium ICC, or post a link to another post which explains the procedure please?
Thanks Last edited by Wraith70 on Thu Nov 15, 2012 9:43 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

another member on here (JoshyD) has upgraded his FG XR6 icc/interior to the icc/interior from a FG G6E... i spoke to him about a few months ago, and i dont recall him saying anything about re-wiring. i know you have to get the icc paired to the vehicle which any ford service centre can do for $50-ish i think. so not 100% sure, but thats my input...

I got mine from FTG and all I had to do was just swap my BEM from the old pov unit to new prem unit.
Turn the key and she was up and running. I think there maybe some programming needed if you go to the Full Dual Zone Ac + colour screen. I think its the dual zone portion of it may need activating. Could be wrong though. My unit was the single zone colour screen 6 stack and it definately didnt go to Ford for any programming. Try calling FTG they should be able to set you straight.

Well, I got mine done. Only went for the same as Jeremy, didn't really need the Dual Zone, but I got my ICC off ebay, and even using the original BEM off my old ICC, I still had to get the radio reprogrammed by Ford to match the car. Took about 30 minutes, and Ford here in Bundaberg charged me $120 for the pleasure, but it was worth it.
Not sure about how to link pics, so I hope it works. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i44 ... G_0056.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i44 ... G_0055.jpg Apparently if you buy a reco one, they de-code the radio so you can use it without having to worry about the radio code, but if you get one from somewhere like Ebay, be prepared to get the radio de-coded, and apparently a good Auto Electrician can do it as well as a Ford Dealer. If you want the Dual Zone CC, it is apparently a Dash Out job so you can get to the Heater Box, it needs different actuation arms and a different module, then needs to be reprogramed by Ford on the WDS to change it from single zone to Dual Zone. |

HI all
I am about to Install a Premium icc out of a 06 XR6 Sedan into a 06 XL ute...... Reading thought all the posts on the subject Is it correct if I DONOT disconnect the battery it wont need reprograming? Or because I am upgrading it will have to be reprogramed? I know I have to use the BEM and Remote sensor in the car is there anything else I need to do... Thanks Barnzey

Hi Barnzey,
I personally wouldn't recommend replacing the ICC with the battery still connected, I'd think it'd be fairly easy to spike when you plug it all in, and that could mean your new ICC is dead before you get it going. As far as I understand, it wouldn't matter anyway if you left the battery connected, it'd still require at least the radio code, if not a de-code by Ford. Swapping mine was as easy as removing the console, removing the ICC, swapping the BEM and Remote sensor to the new ICC and putting it all back together. Everything worked, except for the CD/Radio straight away, de-code by Ford and everything works perfectly. |

I changed an ICC over 12 months ago, I used the SAME BEM and I did have to get the unit programmed to the car it went into because, the Air Cond may not operate properly and, the Radio won't work. Just don't change the BEM or you won't be able to start the car.

I've done a couple of dual zone c/c conversions on BAs and BFs and to be honest i wouldnt bother changing to a premium ICC without going all out (especially on a BF).
The only components you need to add/change are *LH Exterior Mirror *LH Door Harness *ICC *2X AIR MIX SHAFTS *RH AIR MIX MOTOR AND SMALL HARNESS REPROGRAM ICC AND HIM TO SUIT DUAL ZONE C/C If you have a BA series 1 (Without Auto Lights) you will need to add the sunlight sensor, change the dash harness and BEM as well, (& Reprogram keys PATS etc) |
