does any one know if the resister goes in a certan way for the lights to work in an el fairmont cluster

resistors can go in any direction it doesnt matter.

if they are the standard globes then they should be 12volt so you test them directly on the battery with a couple of wires.

what exactley is the problem and when and how did it happen.

If your talking about the dimmer isnt that controlled by the BEM.

Or are you nputting a Fairmont cluster into a GLi/Futura?
