Be funny someone waiting 10 years for it to reset itself only to find out it was all just a load of crap!

Hahahaha yeah, that would be hilarious.
I remember once I s**t to my friend about all this s**t he had to do in a game to activate a cheat, gave him a list of things that would have taken like half an hour to do, and after all that it did nothing lol.

Bamm! In come the moderators!

I guess it is kinda different tho..

while both are deemed illegal, which one do you think has a higher probability of causing an accident and/or killing someone.

If we locked this thread and removed it, Bamm! we'd get pinged for being too strict - we can't win either way!

very interesting point Happy. Well I think by now, people have stopped asking how do I beat my mate at the lights as me and many others have already recieved warnings. Most questions now are directed at the pure performance aspect and then sometimes connected to legal off-street dragging. Winding your odo back to decieve/rip-off falls in the same scum category as damaging someones car intentionally or through ignorant negligence (such as running your trolley into it). Tis what I think anywho.

i did it recently with a cluster i got second hand took a bit of fiddling but pretty much i just used a screwdriver and my fingers and wound it back by changing each number individually so that i had the correct number of km on my dial

so in relation to the law it is ILLEGAL to tamper with the kilometer counter..

*but in my opinion it realy depends on what the reason is for..

-GOOD) if you buy a new cluster that has higher kilometer and you are winding it back to simply match the kilometers you had done..

-BAD) for the purpose of ripping off a buyer at the point of sale for the car with a clock that has been tampered with to decieve the buyer.. (ILLEGAL)

i agree ......
and if you put a new engine instead of winding your kms back just fit a small engine hours guage that gives you a more acurate measurement on your engines life !!

I definatly do not disagree that yes there are circumstances where its ok. And in regards to your comment happy, i do agree with you. But it could be fellow fordmodders that end up getting ripped off by these people. Maybe its something for the gov to look at. It might be time to make people write down there K's each year and hand them into vic roads so when they sell it off, the buyer can get the information off vicroads with there security check and see if its suss or not.

Just my opinion

If you buy a car based on its KM's you are an idiot.
I would hope that being car enthusiasts you would look at the cars overall condition, f**k whether the cluster says 100k or 500k.

Far easier to write down the odometer reading when the engine went in. Record it in the owners manual for the next owner.

And your right it is in fact legal to wind backwrds or forwards an odometer if the cluster is changed. Most workshops that do this will require proof.

yeah my caprice has done 500k (fact i know ) the speedo reckons 241k (3rd cluster) but the car looks like 150k (i LOOk after the outside & inside )but the way i give it a hard time its prob in fact done 700 k(burnout & trashing around ) but where can i find a speedo or dash cluster that will work ????? they seem to die every 250 k and in a 16 yo old car iam not spending big $$$ on clusters there always other money to spend on other things
