Goes to the instrument cluster. It does go via a couple of plugs (one on each side of the firewall?)but doesn't change color - Yellow wire with Red trace.

They easist way to find it is pull the cluster out and trace it back - it will be the only Yellow wire with a thin Red trace going into the cluster (not sure wether it is the left or right plug though)
Question is.. why do you need to find it?.

so i can connect the sensor i got and installed into the bottle.
on my Ef it has provisions for the sensor but the wires terminate just inside the firewall. and kinda not much point following it back from the cluster coz it ain't there......yet lol

Under the dash, above the accelerator pedal, is a big white plastic socket encased in a metal bracket - there are 2 sets of wires plugged into it, we are interested in the smaller left hand plug only. Second column in from the left and second row up from the bottom is where the coolant level sensor wire (Yellow/Red) should be.
A couple of things: Ignore the color of the wires at the sensor, they change to the loom colors at the first plug: Yellow/Red and Black. The Black wire is earthed in the engine bay so its only the Yellow/Red sensor wire you need be concerned about. If the the sensor wire is present at the plug under the dash then it will just be a matter of removing the cluster and fitting a bulb in the right place - looking at the back of the cluster it is the first on the right from the center (odometer) bulb and will probably have a paper "dot" glued over it, peel it off and insert the bulb (1.2 watt clear).
