Ok im going to sound like the biggest n00b but we have to learn some time.
To my understanding an automatic tranny uses two gears when shifting up. So when you install a shift kit it makes the tranny use only the one gear making the shift feel more 'manual' then auto. Am i right or do i have no idea.

sorry but u have no idea lol,
a tranny has 4 or more gears and all a shift does is interupt the signal from the ecu to the tranny to build up more oil pressure to make the gears "snap" in harder so it's like flat shifting in a manual.

a shift-kit just makes the changes to each gear much shorter, resulting in much harder shifts.
