hey,
bought this ed gli today, 187kms on the clock, runs swt, pretty happy, runs nice and cool! trans changes gear very smoothly. previosly some old mans care from toowoomba! the auto box selector is a bit clunky. and wobbly for that matter. i understand from reading posts that its probably become a little loose due to nuts and bolts etc.. how can i access under the cover. can i unscrew this and lift it up high enough without removing the t bar its self. to fix this problem, i just want it a bit smoother. if i have to remove the knob. how do you do this, i dont wanna break anything, (u know!, old plastic) its reminds me of a truck at the moment. |

Theres a locking nut and the T-bar just screws off, easy job. Then from memory you need to be in neutral or drive to lift the surround over the shifter, easy job. Then the shifter bolts in horizontally and has bushes that shag out, not so easy job, but well worth doing.

Mine were done when I had the box reco'd but will need to do it soon on my brothers EB will probably get them thru a mechanic mate, but if a parts shop like repco cant get em just talk to a gearbox workshop.
I also pulled the plastic console plate, around the shifter, apart and put sticky back felt on all plastic surfaces that touched each other to stop the squeaky rattle they get. With this and bushes it slides thru the gears like a Rolls!
