anyone wanting to do the CC lcd...
just went to a tv repair place and they changed the filter in about 3 mins all they did was use a wick and a soldering iron. melted and soaked up the solder and the end, let the orange filter slide out, slid in the red one i made up ealier, and solderd back on! real piss!

yeah, would recommend people with no soldering skills get it done professionally. Those who know the hot end from the handle end of a soldering iron could do it themselves.

I know I've suggested it before as well as not using LED's but using different plastic filters shaped like the originals. It's much cheaper on the wallet too.

what current are you planning on runnign through those LEDs?
Remember the trouble I had with the ones I got from Repco? Turns out they were wired to run at 16mA - which is pretty pitiful. I spent a couple hours, pulling them apart and swaping the 560 resistor for a 380. bumping the current rating upto about 30mA which is closer to normal for LEDs.
