Having a little problem with the EL. When I get out of the car, and try to lock it with the remote, it doesnt work :( However, if one of the doors is left open, then the locks will cycle and the horn beep etc, as its meant to do. The only time the remote works properly, is when the car has been sitting for an hour plus, and it will work to unlock, but only once... Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? Ive tried re-programming the remotes, and no difference.

Is this routine with the car happening when you use either of your remote keyfobs ??

Its not the batteries in the remote, and yeah, it happens all the time.

- Make sure your remotes operate correctly, with the red LED remote flashing with every button press. Open and clean them if necessary - it is surprising how much crap gets in them at times.
- Check the CRKCPT LTS (spelling??) fuse - top left of your interior fuse panel anyways.
- Check the wiring around the plugs of your BEM - unplug and plug the connectors just to resettle them - there are two connectors.
- Failing that, try to substitute another BEM (maybe a big favour from a mate or whatever).
- If you have to buy another BEM, try and get a mid series BEM, for a few extra features.
You've probably tried all of this, it's about all I can suggest - there are a couple of good documents on smartlock to have a look at if you haven't already:
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=26
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=47
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=49

These docos are pretty similar, might give you a few ideas if you haven't read them already . . . . .
