Hi guys,
I have just bought a EF 5L Fairmont Ghia from the damaged auctions, the body needs a bonnet and bumper, and its bloody dirty (got it for $1700!!!) We think it has been repo'd or stolen, there are no keys and some guys random belongings.

Can i just buy a new barrel and door locks and boot lock? I have rang the local ford dealer and they said they only keep key records for 10 years, and i dont like the idea of some clown out there having keys for my car (apparently an auto locksmith can copy the old key from a lock for about $50).

Also it is parked up with steering lock on, can i get the old barrel out with it on? It came with the keypad for it, can i just reteach this? or is it a matched pair with the barrel or something??

I cant wait to get the limo on the road!
cheers
-Jamie

I went and got a key cut by taking the boot lock to a locksmith, $40 for 2 keys and it all went sweet!! Key in the barrel and she started in no time at all

dunno what a viv is. Its a series 1, having a bit of trouble finding a bonnet and a bumper, but i have got it going, shes done 143,000km, runs perfect, shifts great. By the time its over the pits will probably owe me 3.5k (including some nice new 17"s)
