Just wondering if anyone knows how to cure a few spastic quirks with my central locking ('95 EF Futura)?

1. Front drivers side door locks independently to other 3 doors with key (remote doesn't work at all, but the red led appears and fresh batteries used)

2. The other 3 doors lock when you use the key in the passenger side door. However the lock seems to be backwards, you have to turn the key right to unlock and left to lock. Possibly installed upside down?

3. Whenever I slam the drivers side door or hit a bump it locks the other 3 doors.

I've only had the car a couple of months, it came from Brissy so i'd say someone has tried to steal it and fuk'd all the locks. Any suggestions?

My car does the same stupid thing. I press the key pad and the car locks and than unlooks straight away plus it does the slam the door thing like yours. The only s**t thing about it is when the door buttons do stay down I can still open my front doors but not the back :? :? :? :?

The door lock needs to be replaced.
There is a plastic ring in the door lock mechanism that has broken and now the door will lock or unlock only with the key.
They are about $60 at Ford.A bit fiddley to change but a fairly straight forward job.If I can find the part number then I will post it up.

better off installing a aftermarket kit they work better than ford one's. You can even use original ford wiring

my car does the same thing! its s**t me!

The aftermarket alarm remote opens all doors, but sometimes randomly they go down straight away after being unlocked..also when i slam the front doors the central locking, locks..

My two front doors can only be opened by the inside or by key, and can only be locked from the outside even if the things inside the door are 'up'

looks like ill have to change that little plastic thing that has broken..but would it be easier to go to a wrecker and get it from another car?

has anyone done a write up on how to do it with pics ?

MY 95 EF HAS HAD PROBLEMS LIKE THIS AND THE WAY TO GO IS GET RID OF THE ACTUATOR THAT PULLS THE LOCKS SHUT. BE WARNED FORD WILL TELL YOU THAT THEY CHANGED FROM ONE STYLE TO ANOTHER AND THEN BACK AGAIN. ONE IS CHEAPER TOO I BELEAVE. I PUT IN A DIFFERENT ONE AND THE DOOR OPENS A LITTLE OUT OF SYNCH WITH THE REST BUT....WHO CARES. THE REAR LEFT DOOR IS A BIT SLOW SOMETIMES ALSO BUT ITS STILL HANGING IN THERE. IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE IT AND THE ORIGONALS ARE STILL FITTED YOU REMOVE THE DOOR TRIM, MOVE THE PASTED DOWN PLASTIC DOOR SHEET DRILL OUT TWO POP RIVETS AND DISCONECT IT OFF THE PLASTICK CONECTION TO THE LOCK. FIT THE REPLACEMENT AND USE SOME BIG POP RIVETS AND YOU ARE BACK IN ACTION. BASIC INFO BUT ITS NOT VERY TECHNICAL TO DO. JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE BIG RIVETS OR TEK SCREWS WILL DO

OK here is the door lock part number.

I will post a pic of the broken part when I can find the camera.

sorry to highjack the topic but just a quick question. in order to install an aftermarket alarm, would it impact the smartlock in anyway?
thanks

Not unless it was to have remote start and it bypassed Smartlock.

Aftermarket alarms can activate the original door actuators, but for a better piece of mind do the aftermarket door solenoid conversion, check technical documents for details.
