im thinking of converting the std dash in my ef xr8 to a gauge setup not because its a race car etc just because i like the look of it. looking at cobalt autometer series. is it best to get electric or mechanical gauges for something like this

I'd say electric just for the fact that If one of the lines blows then you have that item leaking into your dash. This is why I have an oil pressure guage in but not connected =P Just filling the gap.

Looks very impressive! Certainly different!
You've removed the circuit board completely yeh? If you have a trip computer it wont function at all with that setup, which is unfortunate.
All the gauges would be electronic/digital as the original cluster is, you just need to find the right wire.
Plus I think its illegal to mount a mechanical oil pressure gauge inside the car anyway.

yeah iv removed part of the circut board so the gauges will fit inside the original cluster box. The guy who will be wiring it up for me says hes gonna pick up the existing trip computer circut and wire it in so that the gauges work hand in hand with it as well as all the existing warning lights and blinkers. Yes all the gauges are electric.

Yeah i couldnt find a kmh i dont think they make them in the cobalt range. After its all wired up im gonna get it dynoed next time i get her tuned, and recalibrate the speedo to kmh. Only thing is after 160 i wont know how fast im goin but thats just for the drag strip anyway.
