Hey there,

I just got me a momo steering wheel the other day and was following the tech doco on how to change steering wheels on ef/el.

Now all is well except for the little airbag plug. I can't manage to clip it back in at all. Anybody know if there's any technique to it?

Thanks!!

It's been a few weeks since I had mine off, but are the pins inside the plug bent or anything? You are pushing it on hard enough?

Shouldnt need to push on it hard at all, If your pushin hard theres something wrong and u r probably bending pins. Believe me ive had my s/wheel off about 30 times in the last 6 months....

check your reverse light fuse mate,
if it's blown or has been removed your airbag light will be on.

Thanks for the help so far guys,

Ok checked the reverse light fuse, and there was a 15A fuse in there, i thought it was meant to be a 10A fuse. So i changed it to a 10A fuse and the aribag light is flashing like this:
Flash-Flash-Pause-Flash-Flash-Flash-Flash-Flash

And this keeps on repeating while car is on and stationery.

mine was doing that when i picked it up from the dealer. the sent it into the auto elec and he said it is a common problem after a knock in the front end or if some wiring has been moved.

This sometimes happens after disconnecting the airbag. You basically need to reset the code for the airbag. A guy by the name of JC on fordforums.com.au has documented this, and it's a fairly quick fix and will clear your codes.

Thanks for that horis,

Ok in the tech doco it says this:
Code Clearing
# 1) Switch the Ignition On
# 2) Allow the Code to be Displayed.
# 3) Apply a Short Circuit to the Airbag Memory Clear Pin of the Diagnostic Connector to Ground (See above Picture for further details).
# 4) The Code will be cleared after 5 Beeps have sounded. Repeat the Above untill all the required codes have been Cleared.

Now in step 3 it says apply a short circuit to the airbag memory clear to ground. What exactly does this mean?
Do i need to connect a wire from that pin to the body of the car?

Sorry for the n00b question,

Ok I followed the tech doco on how to clear the codes.

I didn't get any of the 5 beeps.

If anyone is willing to help me I will drive to you because I'm sick of this airbag light in my face all the time!!!

Thanks!!
