You know that stupid beep beep beep that comes from the trip computer when you turn your ingnition off and the lights are still on? .

Does anyone know how to remove that? ... or do I have to take the trip computer apart to do it? ..

Shouldnt be too hard. If you removed the illumination wire, which comes on when the lights come on then it would stop, but then when the lights were on, and the car was running, it wouldnt light up. Soooo, if you connected a relay inline, so that the illumination wire only worked when the key was on, and the lightws were on, you should be fine. Anyone else want to confirm this? Though im not sure why youd remove it.

Isn't the beep seperate from the tripcomputer/clock. Reason I say this is because the bottom of the range GLi models have the beeping reminder, but don't have either a clock or trip computer.

No - its in the trip computer... no trip computer = no beep. Thats why I want someone to help me fit my spare trip computer into my XR... I have left the headlights on a few times.

And with the fading headlights when you arm the car - the headlight switch should actually be off... and when you arm the car - the lights (including interior) usually come on, and fade to off after 15 or so seconds.

Plus - you wont be in the car to hear the beeps... so you shouldnt really need to worry about it.

You can always just hit the reset button to turn off the headlight beep anyway cant you? - and if your alarm system is holding the lights on, then you are obviously already out of the car and you wont care about the noise anyway. its not using a lot of current to do that

Ah, must only be an EF onward thing then as my GLi had it when I got it, and still has it now after I've installed a clock.
