a friend of mine hopped in his car last night, and went to lock the doors, but just as he pressed the button i opened the handle to give him something, and now the door wont close?

like, the handle wont engage. you shut the door and it just bounces open again, like the handle is open, when its not. (if that makes sence) and the lock button appears to be stuck halfway down.

anyone got any ideas?

take the door trim off and check the outer handle rod where it slides on door actuator lever as it sometimes jams up there and put a smear of grease on it after you free it if that is the problem.

Pull the inside door handle out (one screw and it comes out at an angle) and you will find a kink in the cable that goes to the handle, bend the cable back straight and you will find it retracts, and thus the latch is not held open
