yeah i got a ba wheel in my ef. its fits up fine, but the wheel is situated a little closer to the driver than the ef wheel ie: my indicator stalk feels like its always in the high beam position, bacuase the wheel is a little more forward. also u will then need a ba airbag to suit, and will need a ba clockspring to get the terminals to clip into the airbag. the ef clockspring will need to be cut up to accomodate the new terminals, and it must be done right to get the airbag wired in properly.
its a bit of hassle for just a base model ba wheel, but i've got the big bolstered wheel off a turbo territory (sy), same as whats in the gt's ect. horn can be wired up ok, no real drama there, but getting cruise switches to work i havn't done yet (lost interest) Al |

the problem mainly is ba airbags use a 2 stage firing setup, 1 system fires to get the bag out and then shortly after (milliseconds) the second fires to inflate it. ef's use a single stage, deployes and inflates in 1 hit. easiest way is to just put the ba airbag in there, not connected and ignore the airbag light.
*personal choice and i dont recomend it to any1. my car is still like this, but thats my choice. i have the parts there to wire it in, but simply havn't gotten around to it. i know how to do it, but in the end i am not 100% sure how effective it will be. if u really want to know i can assist u, but i cant guarantee in the event of a crash the airbag wont simply explode. |
