Hey guys I just fitted a SVO steering wheel from Mick Webb in my EL and just wondering if anyone has swapped the inserts or painted them as I've got silver inserts in mine and thinking of painting them...
Thanks |

Hey there, dont want to be a buzz kill here, but did your EL have a factory airbag in the steering wheel?
If so dose the SVO one have a airbag too? IF the SVO one dose have an airbag, post a pic cos I've never seen an airbag SVO wheel (SVO didn't do any EF/ELs as far as I know) If the SVO one dosnt and the factory wheel did have an airbag, your car is actually illegal now cos you can't remove factory restraint systems. (another reason why I'll never get a car newer than an EB series 1.) Not that the pigs will notice (unless it's a rare one with a functioning brain) but if they do you may have some issues.

Thanks I'll give Mick a call and see if he knows...maybe might tape it up and paint it if it rubs off
Yes it does allow for an airbag and your cruise control buttons too I've had it since Christmas and I love it, very nice to drive with. I've got a picture of it in my gallery I can't upload pics from my phone so I've got to wait until my laptop is up and running again... |

The Pic in your Gallery is not an SVO wheel but an Autotec one. I have 2. The inserts are supposed to come out to paint but I have never been gave too try.

I got mine directly off Mick Webb and there's an insert that says SVO Mick Webb. It's from Germany does the same company make them or something? |

I have one of the Autotech wheels on the AU ute. We bought it a couple of years ago brand new in the box for the missus's old XR8 direct from Roman Autotech at Rhodes in Sydney. Was around $290 if I remmeber correctly.

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around! |

I like that. I do have a smartlock bypass hooked up for my EL ECU, but no wiring in the car at all for it means working on car body electrics will be a little easier if ever it happens with everything being on slightly more basic circuits. It's just a personal choice, electrics are good but I don't wanna get too technical. I like to be able to fix 99% of stuff myself.
