Hey guys,

I found out today that if you wish to swap your clusters and keep your Odo and Veichle Specific data from your old cluster ford can actually copy them across. EG: You have a GLi and wish to put in sports cluster for Oil Pressure Ect.

http://www.mford.com.au advised me they can do the job for about $75.00 but they will need the car for half the day. You can not give them the clusters due to legal issues. But letting Ford do it means its all legal, and for $75.00 its not expensive.

Hope this helps the people out there who have been racking there minds on this topic.

Yep, this has been something interesting to a lot of us on here - the other way around it is unsoldering and swapping the EPROM chip from one cluster to another (outlined in the above linked doco) - saves $75.00 too, but yeah it's a bit of a delicate procedure.

On a off topic note, I had the head replaced with new everything. When the engine is idling it makes a ticking sound from the top end. This started after I gave it a boot to 4500RPM a few days ago. But the head was replaced about a month prior and car has been driven daily to work and back. The ticking does not seem to be anything slowing the car down or causing any problems. It revvs harder and much smoother and takes off very quick.
Im confused

There is little EL data on here that goes into the more nitty gritty stuff.
Mainly im seeing alot of quick fixes and no good old fashoned engine work.

If you cant give them the clusters does that $75 include parts?
And can you get the police cluster for that price?

You have to take the new/second hand cluster to the deelership. They pull out your old one and copy the data across. No parts needed apart from the replacment cluster.
I dont see why yuo cant give them a police one. As long as its for the same model veichle. Due to serial buss issues, you cant swap diffrent models eg EF into a EL.
