I think the surround just lifts straight up at the back, then slide the stick backwards, and lift at the front. Wont come up on the eb (ef/el might be different?) all at once because the slider tucks under the actual console. The shifters should be a direct swap, and im not sure of the hand brake. Im assuming this is on an ef or el? Helps to have a little information!

think you needa remove the seat to swap the hand brakes over, pretty simple and once you see it obvious how to do. (my seat was already out when i did it for other reasons).
as for the gear knob, just loosen the nut on the bottom, and then unwind the knob, reverse to fit new one.
peice of piss really

it'd be pretty easy i'd say - remove the auto gear surround, get yourself a manual gear boot, and slip it over! :P

Genuine Ford manual shifter boot (bout $50 new). Pop out the auto surround and pop the boot in its place. Ahh and take out the globe for the auto surround backlight too haha!

Don't forget to shift the power/economy switch.

Yeah you can see it (top pic) sitting underneath the ash tray, thanks to some speaker wire and terminals from my ////Alpine speaker install kit!

How do you know what gear its in? You jsut do?

Handbrake cover: Peel back teh loose fabric and the rubber handbrake comes off.

Gear surround: Pop it up undo auto light and econ switch and just gently prove it out.

Yeah i know the car inside out, so you just 'feel' for the gears, the shift lock stops things going pear shaped anyway. If i really want to know what gear its in i activate the diagnostic display  .
