Anyone able to tell me a location and colour of a tacho signal wire in an EF I6? Preferably in the dash somewhere...

Yep - might possibly be yellow/green, so make sure it is the correct one (from memory fuel gauge line is yellow/green too).

yelloe and green sounds right, i know its the wire in the dash loom thats differnet between ef and el's all the f**k i did with it thought id remember what colour it was

Ok, so Pin 7 on the right hand side plug is the Tacho Input, it's Pink/Dark blue, but it might instead be green/yellow, but it'll be in the exact same spot, just different colour wire?
