Hi guys.
I'm looking to upgrade my standard BA falcon sedan with the 6-disc cd changer unit from a territory, i assume the units are the same as the Fairmont/Fairlane "high series". Having a larger colour screen for every day use, plus it looks nice, would be ideal. My question is, will this swap like-for-like, what other electro mods etc. will i need to do the job? I wanna make sure i can do this before paying for the head unit tomorrow. Please and thankyou for the advice.

Hi & welcome. simple answer is yes it will fit - as long as you use your BEM [which is currently under you current ICC], you will need to have the ICC programmed to your car tho [even using your current BEM] and it 'should' work... BUT you will have issues with the aircon due to it being Dual Zone against your current being Single Zone & the air temp won't work due to not all required wiring etc being there to start with, BUT that doesn't mean it cannot be done, just means you will have 'some' issues/hiccups. i've wanted to do what your currently wanting to do but with the Single Zone version, however couldn't find one anywhere then one day i found one on ebay . . . . . . & won it {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} biggest bonus was getting it home & discovery that it a, ALL works & b, it is the premium version not the single disc version!! and yes it is from a XR. plus having it as a Single Zone means i have no hassles/issues as with fitting a Dual Zone [once i finish my BAFLR6 wiring looms i will be able to fit the DZ without issues]. sorry but i cannot help with what you need to do re getting it to work as i've only ever fitted DZ to DZ or SZ to SZ so no experience re fitting the DZ to SZ. i use Forscan & a laptop to program our cars without issues. i've seen people on FB marketplace advertising re programming ICC's/BEM's but i do not know anything about any of them. hopefully this helps you, but doesn't put you off what you want to do. Cheers |

Wow! thats brilliant advice mate, thank very much! I didnt take the A/C into account. Sounds like its gonna be a bit of a mission, i do like a stiff challenge, learning things etc. Your conversion does seem more thought about than my 'by the pants' approach, id be interested to see the results.
While ive got the opportunity removing the Terry's head unit is there any other bits/parts i should take before i leave the wreckers? Is the 6 stacker hidden some place? Wish me luck, hopefully its still there. if/when i get it home ill snap a few pics Thanks again. |

{USERNAME} wrote: I picked up the head unit today, looks really slick. A lot more wires than my old cassette player the 'yellow' plastic bit at the base of the ICC will need to be removed & yours fitted [which is blue in colour]. take note of how the plugs in the BEM [the 'yellow' thing] are unplugged as you will need to remove em from your BEM before removing the ICC. the square green plug clips on the side where as the rest clip in front. before removing your BEM please remember to disconnect your battery also remove any cd's in the ICC before starting. {USERNAME} wrote: Wow! thats brilliant advice mate, thank very much! Cheers Ps - yes i hope my looms work as required ...... there are about 12 looms to be modded so everything works as i want - door looms, dash loom, front right loom, roof loom, left rear loom, right rear loom, tailgate looms & floor loom [connects between left/right rear looms]. there is also 4 driving lights & 2 rear driving lights for reverse lights at night. the front left loom needs no modding as it's suitable to use as is. |

I haven't seen the head unit work, the Terry i got it from was a wreck. I couldnt wait to get outta the drivers seat, was wet and moldy, yuck! I believe the unit was not standard for that car, the wiring has been modified on most of the plugs. Im out of my depth a bit. I need to find out exactly what model its originally from, find a wiring diagram and go from there.
Is there a way to check what car/model it from? and the easiest way to test it without pulling my own car apart? Thanks again

Thanks again easiest way to test is ....................................... yep you guessed it if you remove your ICC & fit your BEM to the terri ICC & refit it [not sure why there's a wire off the blue wire? cut off black wire & tape it & you MUST use your BEM] you can then 'test it' easily . . . . well sorta. if we were closer i could test it for you. if you try fitting it as i mentioned ... you can then push on the AM/MENU buttons at the same time or the FM/MENU buttons [again at the same time]. this will give you 'about' 5 minutes to test radio/cd player & that the screen is good. i'm not sure but if you test the heater/aircon settings you have to do it via the passenger side settings? have never done that part tho with a DZ in a SZ so i don't know. |

Hi again fellow ford people!
Ive got good and NOT so good news...New head unit was fitted today, with many and varied profanitys! The not so good part, screen says "security code error". When i removed the battery previously, the old ICC would ask for a code and then proceed as normal. The new one is a pain in the butt! NOTHING works on the ICC except for that darn code error message. No illumination, radio, climate control, even the the de-fogger! The dome lamp on/off button is all that functions. I wasnt expecting a smooth ride but this is a brick wall for me. Can i please get some assistance please? Im expecting to visit an auto-elec before too long, which i really cant afford. Anyway its beer o-clock and im 4 hours late. Thanks again, without you and the internet id be stuffed.

The "new" ICC will need marrying to the body module the HIM will need to be reprogrammed to Duel Zone setup Both of the above can be done with forscan with the extended license (free) and a forscan compatible usb ELM327 scan tool off ebay You can get 5 mins use at a time (bypasses the security code error your getting) by pressing AM and menu buttons on the ICC at the same time

That interesting information, thanks. I went to visit a mate with the scanner thing that plugs into the fuse box, he got it partially going for me! Bad news was the A/C bits don't work at all, de-fogger too. He basically said ill have to put the old unit back in.
Ill check the price of forscan but if its too much $ ill have to abandon the project, the head unit set me back $150. REALLY appreciate the help and giving me some hope of pulling this off.

REALLY appreciate the help and giving me some hope of pulling this off. i actually mentioned about using the AM/Menu-FM/Menu buttons previously. last time i checked re Forscan it was free ... as was the temp use of the extended licence, but only for a limited period. there also is a paid licence which is 'about' $30, which then lets you have the full licence for a few years. there are a couple of versions with the windows version appearing to be the best. i believe re heater/aircon you need to disconnect the battery for a bit or something like that [havn't tried this as i mentioned previously]. |

{USERNAME} wrote: Just ordered a scanner, $20 is reasonable. Ill be back with an update regardless win or loose. Cheers just remember not all ELM 327 tools are created equal as some are clones & don't work well with Forscan or if at all. and the ones that work best with the B series fords don't have the switch on the side. |
