Okay, so it's not that bad.

Someone mentioned the idea of starting a doco on how to fix common rattles and squeaks in the E-serieseses. I'd like to add that I think this is a great idea.

So yeah. I have a rattle somewhere in my cluster area. Seems to be coming from right behind the cluster, in the odometer region. I thought it was the perspex/plastic cover over the cluster itself for a while, but holding/tapping/thumping that does nothing. Thumping the dash itself occasionally fixes the rattle for a while.

I have no desire to pull my dash apart to fix this, but I figured someone might have had a similar noise and know straight away what it was.

Sounds like you will have to take the dash apart to find it.

just get bits of cardboard (business cards r good) and jam them in all the spots that can move...all the joints (one by one)

when you find the one that rattles, cut the card to shape and jam it in there. it may sound bodgy, but it works

Who else has the top of their driver's door making a noise when idling at the lights?
