Hey guys,
Some cheeky buggers busted their way into my car they've caved in the lock on my drivers side door does anyone know whether this is relatively easy to get fixed? Just doing the job with the remote at the moment but it will need fixing as i'll hopefully be selling soon cheers |

Yeah its fairly easy or was for me. I pulled the drivers side door lock out of my EL XR8 only to find the lock kit I bought of eBay was for an early AU not EL. Search the technical docs there should be something in there. If not i could give you a basic idea of what to do from memory.

busting the locks.... BAHAHAHA thats gay. It makes too much noise and is harder. My boss at the wreckers showed me that you use the ceramic from spark plugs and throw it at the window. Breaks and is silent.

They didn't fix the problem in the AU's either, still just as easy to get into by forcing the lock into the door panel, socket the lock fitted into is just plastic. Was quoted by my local repair shop $350 to replace the lock and handle. They suggested try gluing the lock back into the handle, which worked and didn't cost me a thing.

Feel your pain boys.... When I bought my old EDXR6, the driverside was clawed, so I got it fixed... $80, then two weeks later, the left side got clawed, $80 again! No s**t, tow days later, I walked out of my (now) x's house and there was a little prick trying to claw my right one again (aparently this kid is a menace!) Snuck up on him and gave him a size 13 steel cap to the nut and a*** region... I saw him two weeks later and he was still walking with a limp!
in the end, I just took off the handles and put sheetmetal over the hole part... thank god my central locking never failed....
