hi im looking at obtaining some EF XR6 Door trims. I have a 96 EFII Gli and dont care much for power windows because i have no time to install them. So i figured ill buy some Xr6 trims and cut a hole in em for the winder.
Will the the winder fit as it (xr6 trim)has a different armrest. And as i have seen in the tech documents some clip has to be changed to fit the new trims... Is what i am planning to do possible... Thanks for ya help every1 |

rather than hack up the xr door trims, just swap the fabric insert over. once you take the door trim off you'll see the trim is held on by big clips, kinda like giant staples, just fold them back and the insert will pop out.
then swap it over to your gli door trims, should take 5 mins all up. no need to cut holes or anything messy

Not many places like to seperate full sets of trims (ie selling the fronts and rears seperately) Nobody in their right mind would seperate the ccloth insert from the remainder of the trim, as it becomes very difficult to sell the remaining part of the trim. I have came across this problem recently, as I was looking for woodgrain for the door trims, nothing else. As a result, I had to buy a full set of NL ghia door trims

Why not just do the power window conversion, its better then window winders. Looks neater

Find some fabric that you prefer, and cover the existing fabric inserts - don't remove the existing fabric as IIRC the padding is part of the fabric.
You can glue it to the insert rears using contact glue. You then can do front and rear inserts without buying whole door trims, etc at this stage. If you eventually go to power windows, you could then get the door trims to suit, be it just futura fronts, or fairmont/ghia/fairlane, etc and swap over the inserts if you prefer.
