Hello everyone,
I have just bought an EF Fairmont with 96,000K's on the clock and I love it. Funnily enough, my wife thought a commodore would be better for us, but a drive of both the Fairmont and later model (VT) comodore convinced her - she likes it as well. The only problem is that the trip computer display is very dim - at night with the dash lamps at full illumination I can just see the figures. I have been looking through the forums and it seems that there is an illuminating bulb in the module that may need replacing. So, the question is is there an easy way to get at the bulb for replacement - without pulling the dash apart? Thanks to all for a great site. Regards Paul |

Jonathon,
Thank you. It looks as though the dash surround does have to be pulled out, the module poped out backwards from the dash surround and then the bulb can be replaced. Can the module can be poped out from the front of the dash - i would guess that this would damage ethier the dash surround or the module body? Regards Paul |

Hi Paul, welcome to fordmods. It can be done without to pulling the surround out(just a bit fiddly), but it is better to have it out for someone doing it for the first time. It doesn't take long to pull the surround out , only about 10 min first time, don't need to remove trip comp, just remove the globe when you get the surround out.
Cheers Tim
