my ef gli has a trip computer and only one bank of wires i spluged into it is this right because it only lights up a time when i push any of the buttons and it does nothing else just got the car. any sugestions.

I had a similar problem on my EF, the trip computer was very dim and went off completely when the lights were on. All the problem was the brigthness had been turned down.

To turn them back up you use the interior light switch thats attactched to the light switch, you just push it up a little from horizontal, you'll feel the switch, of course if you go to far you'll just turn the interior ligths on. You have to hold it in this position and you'll see the trip computer get brighter. If you push the switch all the way down the lights will get dim and go out.

Hope that helps, took me a while to find this out as my car didn't come with a handbook.

That wont work on an EF GLi, as only the Fairmont/Ghia got the dimming switches, otherwise it was a choice of 2 brightnesses
