anyone seen this...? just wondering how it works or if its works...claims to be able to: Digital speedometer (m/h or km/h) This can turn your odometer into a digital speedometer. The normal linear speedo is slow to react to rapid speed increase/ decrease and also notoriously has a high tolerance of error. This mode is often used by police officers in real time speed reading. Digital tachometer Shows the real time engine revolution on your dash digitally, possibly even when your car does not have a tachometer meter. Always good for engine tuning. Battery voltage Display the battery state. Digital engine coolant temperature Display the coolant temperature.

Also how do you change between the different modes, n does it really last 5 minutes? because i would love to have an instant fuel consumption on my dash permanently...... or is there another way to get this information displayed?

hasn't got out of it yet... you hold the button down for 11 seconds to exit and you push the ttrip button to go through the modes... (for AU S3)

It wont exit until you exit it.
To go thru each scree you just press the button as mentioned before. If you're capable of ebay you're capable of google, and thus forums. If you can make it to a forum using google then you can surely use the search function. There's no reason not to do any research before purchasing a product. Otherwise sucked in to the people who bought it so far. |

All the modules changed from the AU to the BA. The AU was built using Modules that support Fords SCP (Standard Coroprate Protocol) which was OBD based I believe (I don't know much about the AU I'm sorry - I think it's based on PWM)
But the BA moved to support OBD2 in 2002 (four years before it became compulsory in Australia in 2006 - it's been compulsory in the US since 1996) and most of it's modules use the CAN protocol. Since access to the Modules via OBD2 is standardised I guess Ford thought they didn't need any other way to activate the diagnostic and fancy features on the dash when it could be done via OBD2 and their factory WDS, IDS or PDS diagnostic tools. Anyway, we've done some work, and have finally found out how to turn much of this stuf on and off (although I haven't worked out the digital tacho, most other things we can do.) You do need an OBD2 based tool that supports CAN. I use an ELM327 style tool. It cost me about $100 AUD. A lot of what I've discovered can be found here: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/scantool-fun-t25010.html Of interest, turning Police Mode on and off, which is what this thread is about, can be found on pages 7-8 for both High and Low series clusters. But be warned, you'll need your geek-goggles on because it's a bit intense. Lukeyson |
