Simple to upgrade your cluster. Buy a fairmont or a ex police one and swap em over. remove the dash facia and radio surround, unplug old cluster, plug in new one. I put in a police one and have not regretted it since. If you have a gli or futura however and you install a cluster with the oild pressure, you will need to change from your oil pressure switch to a oil pressure sender (pretty easy to do.) that way the gauge will work instead of sitting on 7 all the time (pressure wise).

As for making the cluster look mad, check out in technical documents on how to change to an LED cluster like the current BA's have.

did my cluster on my GLi last week (police) and did the oil sender. my problem is I have no plug under the bonnet for the low coolant sensor to plug into (EF). otherwise plug and play.

oil sender unit you get from fraud or your local repco or bursons. Besides EBay, the police clusters are hard to come by but some of the wreckers do have them but you will be looking at anywhere from $100 to $180 there abouts because they are rare to get.

Apparently...would`nt know one if I fell over it though...from memory, even the old XD and VK had different clusters, 2km graduations, etc...

if you get a fairmont/ghia cluster you have to remove a resister from the inside of the cluster or your dash lights wont work

Yes the police cluster has 2km speedo, just have to find where the low coolant wire stops.
