Get ready to eat humble pie coz your lucky its an x series and the front doesn't have to come out as well. I worked supplying the trim trade for 10 years and your not being jibbed. The rear is glued around the window frame then the windscreen rubber and glass are put in later. It is not a basic job because do it wrong and it will look like a bean bag.
Who is doing the job for you?

Yeah, XE is totally different to XH. You will have to take the rear window out to remove and refit the hood lining. Dont bend the hood bows getting it out either, it will look like crap if they get bent.
Get the upholsterer to do it, if your going to respray the ute, pull it all out, as well as the window, and have him refit it after the car is painted. 8-)

Ok well that's good to know, but i think i was fairly convinced anyway the rear screen had to come out as unlike the first person i spoke to, this trimmer sounded like he knew what he was talking about so hopefully he'll do a good job. I sorta prefer not to give away his details until the job is done then i'll ask for his permission to post his details and give him a plug. I'll post some pics too. The job ain't getting done until the end of July though so there's a bit of a wait unfortunately. Oh and the car won't be painted for a looong time as it's the last step in the project after interior, suspension and brakes and then the driveline. Should be ok though as i'm not changing the colour....much.

wow that's crazy.
Why do they do it that way? i had a look at mine and it seems fairly basic...
then took a look at some photo's on a quick google search and it appeared to have some clips similar to mine. heh
