Hey all, simple question, i'd like to replace my rooflining in the ute, is it simple to do or is it like the XE sedans where you have to take the rear screen out to do it? Thanks for the help.

highly doubt it, should be a very basic job

Just pull the clips out and the corner plastic panels and should come out quiet easily

I have just spoken to a trimmer on the phone and he reckons the rear screen needs to come out but i aint convinced. Where abouts are the clips?

if he knows what he's doing i'd rather you trust him than me, I'm just going off how i would remove mine on the XH and from some photo's I've looked at of XE roof linings (basically just grey round circles that clip through, should be directly above the headrest's

Reason he didn't convince me is he didnt sound very sure or that he knew what he was talking about. I'll seek another opinion from another trimmer. Cheers mate.

yeah no worries mate, I'd ask for a bit more advice, i just don't see how you would need to remove your rear screen if its only the interior roof lining. just seems a bit excessive to me, i know mine is just clips and a few plastics holding in place

Good luck,
ill watch for progress

So the answer from a reputable trimmer is that you should take out the rear screen if you are replacing the headlining. You can replace without doing that but apparently wont get the same factory looking finish. It's booked in for him to put it in. Bit steep in price but considering it is ESP Grey velour it's worth it. I think. :?

yeah no worries,

if its gonna look better that way i'd go for it.

i help a mate recently pull his roof lining in an xh and it was basically pull out the door, re-line and put back in,

but like you said, if you want a better finish, lets the pro's handle it

you shouldnt have to take the screen out, once everythings unclipped you should be able to turn it 90 degrees and pull it out through an open door...

Interesting. Well i'm going to be there the whole time while he's is doing the job, so if i see the rear screen doesn't need to come out and he proceeds to take it out i'll be asking questions. Here is some pics as it is now.
